The Foreign Languages Teaching Center
At present, the Foreign Languages Teaching Center has 33 members in the teaching staff, including 30 English teachers and 3 Japanese teachers of whom 4 hold doctoral degrees, 27 have Master degrees while 2 are PhD candidates. Besides, there are 2 staff members and 2 foreign teachers. The Center is responsible for the foreign languages education for undergraduates, graduates, PhD students and the students from international cooperation program. The Center is composed of the College English section, Teaching and research office of specialized English，Sino-foreign Cooperative English Teaching Section, the Japanese section and the Postgraduate English section.
In 2013, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission approved our university to be one of the experimental universities for the teaching reform on EGAP (English for General Academic Purpose). In 2014, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council approved the MTI (Master of Translation and Interpreting) program in the Foreign Languages Teaching Center. These years, all the teaching staff have made a lot of achievements in teaching and academic research including publishing scholarly articles and books and winning teaching competitions.
